10 Best Things to do in Sydney

From iconic views and amazing beaches to incredible food, Sydney has an unbelievable amount to see and do. I’ve been to Sydney for every season and no matter the time of year it’s a beautiful city to visit. Even after visiting three times, there’s still so much I want to go back and see!

Take in the iconic Sydney Opera House. Although I’ve been to Sydney multiple times I still think it’s so cool seeing the Sydney Opera House. The second time I went to Sydney I paid A$43 and did an architecture tour and I couldn’t recommend it more! I learned so much about the architects and the designers and the process of building it and how it’s changed to be what we see today. You can do an architecture tour every Saturday at either 8:15am or 10am.

Enjoy the view of Sydney Harbor from the Sydney Harbor Bridge. You can walk across the bridge, climb one of the pylons or climb the whole bridge! If you don’t want to spend the money to climb the whole bridge I recommend paying A$25 and climbing the pylon. You get uninterrupted views of the harbor with a budget friendly price!

Shop your way through the Rocks Market. Every weekend there is a market on George Street in the Rocks with an amazing selection of clothes, jewelry, stationary and delicious food. It’s the perfect place to grab a souvenir and a snack and enjoy the view of the harbor and the opera house.

Enjoy a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens. The botanical gardens are right on the water so it’s a beautiful spot to have a picnic and relax. You can check out the official website to read more about the guided walks, photography workshops and more offered at the botanical gardens.

Escape the heat at the Art Gallery of NSW. It’s free to enter and it’s a great spot to wander around for a few hours and learn about some Australian artists.

Hop on the train and explore one of the suburbs! Every suburb has something different to offer from the beach town feeling of Maroubra to the historic streets of the Rocks. Every time I’ve been to Sydney I’ve stayed in a different area and it completely changes your trip! No matter where you stay my biggest tip is stay near a train station so you can get around easily.

Go to a festival! The first time I went to Sydney I was there for New Year’s Day and went to Field Day with two of my friends and had a great time. Typically they release tickets in waves so we were able to get tickets just a few days before the festival.

Bask in the sun at Bondi Beach. You can find people working out, playing beach volleyball, surfing or just relaxing in the sun. While you’re here walk down to the Bondi Icebergs and take a swim if you’d like. The Bondi Icebergs are open to the public to swim, you just have to pay the entrance fee!

Enjoy the coast and walk from Bondi to Coogee Beach. The total walk takes about 2 hours and somehow every time I try and do the whole walk I end up spending just 2 hours enjoy taking photos and videos between Bondi Beach and Tamarama Beach. One day I will successfully do the whole coastal walk but until then you can find me at Mackenzie’s Point talking about how beautiful the view is.

Hop on the ferry and spend the day in Manly. You can take the regular ferry or the fast ferry, both of which take you from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf. You can spend the day lounge on the beach, shopping on The Corso or enjoying a drink at one of the bars with a beautiful view of Manly Beach.

  1. I have climbed up the bridge and also done the trip up the pylon! They were two different experiences, but the view is very similar! Great recommendation.
